Welcome to the home page of Wikimedia Polska Association, the Polish chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation. Our aim is to promote and support Wikipedia (notably its Polish, Kashubian and Silesian versions), as well as other Wikimedia projects. We strive to expand and support the web of volunteers who accept our mission: to help individuals and organisations in allowing easy access to open knowledge.
The act forming the association was signed by 26 Wikimedians during the Wikimedia Polska 2005 Meetup in Kraków, which took place on August 14, 2005. On November 15, 2005 the Association was registered by Local Registration Court in Łódź.
As a registered Public Benefit Organisation (OPP) we are allowed to receive 1% of income tax from individual Polish taxpayers, who can also deduce donations for Wikimedia Polska (up to 6% of their yearly income). Consult our Statute for more details.
The Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. is an international non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual content, and to providing the full content of these wiki-based projects to the public free of charge. Wikimedia relies on public donations to meet its goal of providing free knowledge to every person in the world. You can donate to the Wikimedia Foundation by PayPal, postal mail or through one of its local chapters.
